About

Native Texan and Dallas resident, Melissa Ellis, is a palette knife painter specializing in sculptural oil paintings on canvas.  Her bold use of color is apparent in all of her work, from her large-scale, multicolored patterned work to her stark black & white pieces.  She has developed a unique style of painting by using palette knives to create beautifully distinct patterns, shapes and designs with thick textural oil paint. Melissa’s work is often described as ‘organized chaos’, referring to the spontaneous yet highly calculated and meticulous processes she uses to create motion, patterns, texture and depth in her work.

Melissa works alongside three fabulous Dallas artists - Conceptual oil painter, Rachel Nash, Abstract Expressionist, Christi Meril, and Glass Artist, Anna Curnes - at the Anna Lou Glass Collective (ALG Collective).  The all female working artist studio & showroom is located in the heart of the Dallas Design District at 1302 Dragon Street, Dallas, TX 75207.
